The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is now offering scholarships for postgraduate studies to qualified candidates from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. This initiative aims to foster human capital development in the region by supporting deserving individuals in pursuing advanced education.
The scholarships is for suitably qualified applicants with relevant Bachelors’ Degrees from recognized universities in the following disciplines:
- Agricultural science
- Engineering
- Environmental science
- Geoservices
- Information Technology
- Medical sciences
- Law
Eligibility For NDDC Post Graduate Scholarships
- Niger Delta Origin: Applicants must be from one of the Niger Delta states, which include Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers.
- Academic Excellence: Candidates are usually required to have obtained a first-class or second-class upper division in their undergraduate degree from a recognized institution.
- Admission to a Postgraduate Program: Applicants should have secured admission into a postgraduate program (Master’s.) in a reputable university, either in Nigeria or abroad, in fields relevant to the NDDC’s objectives, such as engineering, environmental sciences, agriculture, and other related disciplines.
- NYSC Discharge Certificate: For Nigerian graduates, possession of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate or an exemption letter is often mandatory.
- Good Moral Character: Applicants are expected to possess good moral character and must not have any criminal record.
- Not more than 40 years old
How the Applicant is selected:
- Interested candidates must submit an online application through the NDDC website
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on Wassce/Neco result
- Local government identification
- Computer based test candidate must undergo Computer based test
- Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70%
Methods of Application
- Applicants are required to submit their application online through the commission website nddc.gov.ng
- Recent passport photograph
- Local government identification letter
- Post graduate admission letter from a recognized overseas university
- Relevant degree from recognized universities
- Nysc discharge /exemption certificate
Upon completion of the application form, a registration number will automatically be assigned.
Applicants are advised to print hard copy of the online generated acknowledgement for future reference.
