Arsenal back to the top of the league with a win over Brighton

Arsenal back to the top of the league with a win over Brighton

Brighton unbeaten in their last 12 league matches coming into the game was hit by a loss to Arsenal team at their home , but from the first whistle we created chances, and were rewarded when Saka converted a penalty after Gabriel Jesus was fouled.

Havertz finished from Jorginho’s cross in the second half to double our advantage before Trossard added gloss at the end with a breakaway third.

Arsenal set about the hosts early. Gabriel would have been disappointed not to at least test Bart Verbruggen in the Brighton goal in the very first minute, when he met Martin Odegaard’s swinging free-kick flush on his head, but directed it the wrong side of the upright.

Bukayo Saka also fashioned a glorious chance for himself after being released by a defence-splitting pass from Ben White, who was making his 100th Premier League appearance against his former side. He burst into the penalty area and cut the ball onto his left foot before curling wide. You expected the net bulge when he saw the whites of the goalposts.

The chances kept coming. Moments later Gabriel Jesus drew a spectacular save from Verbruggen with a 20-yard drive, before the Brazilian seemed to be caught in two minds with a header at the far post, that drifted harmlessly wide.

Brighton retained a threat on the break. Julio Enciso and Simon Adingra both missed the target after promising-looking attacks.

Our build-up play was effective, but the finish was lacking. Just after the half hour though, we made the breakthrough.

Jesus superbly controlled a long pass on the left flank, burst into the box and forced a clumsy tackle from Tariq Lamptey. Referee John Brooks was well-positioned and immediately pointed to the spot.

GOALLLLLLLLLL by Saka

Up stepped Saka, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way, and tucking the ball expertly inside the upright. It was the winger’s 14th Premier League goal of the campaign, matching last season’s tally.

The game remained open, and David Raya had to be at his best to superbly turn away Enciso’s curling, dipping effort from outside the area. The ball was heading into the top corner before the Spaniard flung himself to his left and push it away for a corner.

Defensive hesitation between Lewis Dunk and Verbruggen almost let Kai Havertz nip in just in front of the line, but the German couldn’t get his boot to the ball.

In first-half stoppage time, we went from back to front in the blink of an eye, with William Saliba starting the move in our own box, but the ball wouldn’t quite fall for Havertz at the end of the attack.

GOALLLLLLLLLLLL by Havertz

It was an open game, but a moment of incisiveness in the final third gave us the second. We knocked the ball around patiently, looking for the opening, and Jorginho provided. Running into the space usually occupied by Bukayo Saka on the right, he cut the ball back right into the path of the onrushing    GOALLLLLLLLLLLL Havertz, who netted from close range.

Mikel Arteta brought on Gabriel Martinelli and Trossard on the wings, with the latter wrapping up the points late on.

GOALLLLLLLL by Trossard

Trossard raced through one on one from his own half, and showed great composure to lift the ball over Verbruggen to seal another win for Arsenal making it 3 0 on the night for arsenal to top the  league. With this win tonight, Arsenal top the league with seven games remaining for the season to come to an end. Read more News

Brighton vs Arsenal: Can Arsenal beat Brighton to go top of the league

Brighton vs Arsenal: Can Arsenal beat Brighton to go top of the league

Facing the challenge of three games in seven days, Mikel Arteta and Roberto De Zerbi shuffled their packs in midweek with a combined total of nine changes, but we’ll be hoping our strength in depth and energy levels continue to drive us towards maintaining our incredible momentum to see if Arsenal beat Brighton to go top of the league.

However the Amex Stadium has been something of a fortress for the Seagulls this term. They have lost just once at home this season and that came back in August, with only the three title contenders boasting similar records.

An incredible start to the season saw De Zerbi’s team win five of their first six games, before a 6-1 defeat at Aston Villa started a mini-slump as they struggled to juggle domestic and European action for the first time in their history.

They recorded just three wins in 16 matches straddling the end of 2023 and the start of this year, including a 4-0 loss at Luton Town at the end of January. They bounced back with a 4-1 victory over bitter rivals Crystal Palace, and also thumped Sheffield United 5-0, but March saw their Europa League campaign end against Roma, as well as losses to Fulham and Liverpool before a 0-0 draw at Brentford in midweek.

While their form at home is impressive, it hasn’t been consistent as they have alternated between drawing (4) and winning (4) their last eight on home soil, and they beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 in their last Amex appointment. Clean sheets have been hard to come by – they had to wait until January for their first in the league, but have kept two in their last three matches.

Arteta on Brighton Manager

Arteta on Brighton: I’m very impressed. [De Zerbi] is a top manager with a top coaching staff. I think they’re an unbelievable football club, what they have done deserves incredible credit.

The way they run the football club, the decisions they have made and how they have established themselves in the league, and now fighting with the top clubs as well, I think they’ve done a magnificent job. I think Roberto has given a very clear style and attractive way of playing football, and they make life very difficult for the opponent.

Statement of Brighton Manager

De Zerbi: “Mikel Arteta is a great manager; I have big respect for his job and his style is clear. They always play with big intensity and with courage. I think they will be aggressive, and they have a clear style with and without the ball. I think it will be a good game to watch.

In terms of our target, we want to improve our place in the table. Last season is history, this season is completely different. I think we have the quality to reach the European position but there are a lot of teams from Fulham to Manchester United who could reach the position.

For sure we have the ambition and I am positive because I believe in my players, and I know their human qualities. They will be emotional games [against rivals for European football] and it’s nice to compete against Arsenal, Newcastle, Manchester United… but we are focused on our target.

After winning 2-0 at Emirates Stadium in December, we are looking to complete the Premier League double over Brighton for the second time, previously doing so in 2020/21.

We have kept a clean sheet in each of our last four away Premier League matches – only once in our league history have we kept five in a row, doing so between February and April 1997.

Since the turn of the year, we haven’t trailed for a single minute in any of our five away league games, conceding the fewest goals (1), allowing the lowest G against (2.26) and facing the fewest shots on target (5) on the road of any side in 2024. Read For more News

Arsenal v Luton Town: Can Arsenal take the league

Arsenal v Luton Town: Can Arsenal take the league

Our nine-game league winning streak came to an end on Sunday against Manchester City, but the draw might be important in the eventual result. Furthermore, since Liverpool plays a day later than us, we can win our first home league game in twenty-five days and return to the top of the standings.

Will Luton below relegation line Stop Arsenal?

For the Luton, who are narrowly below the relegation line and will be visiting the Emirates Stadium for the first time ever, every point counts in the meantime. They are, however, without a win in their previous nine league games due to a decline in form, and they are hoping for a fortunate break to improve their chances of surviving. The Hatters, in their first season in the Premier League, began April with a record of no higher than 17th in the table, but after nine games, Rob Edwards’ squad will be vying for that spot. Their first victory in the competition came at Everton’s cost after five attempts, and it would take them nearly two months to win again, this time against Crystal Palace. Though confidence was bolstered by a run of three victories and two draws from six games during the winter, they have only managed two draws from their last eight games, which hasn’t helped with a huge array of important player ailments.

Unlike other promoted teams, they have scored goals in their last 18 league games, which is the longest scoring streak in the Premier League. Therefore, scoring goals has not been a problem for them. They are the most productive team in the bottom eight with 42 points in 29 games, three more than Manchester United in sixth position. But, a 1-0 lead was lost 2-1 against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday due to their failure to keep them out. They now have four days to prepare for another trip to north London.

Arteta Statement

Arteta: “Rob and the coaching team deserve a lot of praise; their growth as a club has been incredible. They should get more credit than any other team in this league, in my opinion. You can see how tough they have been in their games, even in those they haven’t won.” In our matches versus the other two top-seeded teams, we have produced some outstanding outcomes. Since we are not at the top, it follows that we have to focus on making up for the points we have overlooked elsewhere. Edwards on us: “They don’t reveal much, and their defense is rather obstinate. As games at Kenilworth Road occasionally are, this one was somewhat unusual. We will be doing fairly well if we can go to the Emirates and score three goals.

Though it is challenging right now [because of the injuries], we will strive to be the greatest versions of ourselves. We have had some extraordinary results against the other two teams that are leading the table.

Can Arsenal draw with Mancity Boost Arsenal Today

We are not top so that means that we have missed certain points somewhere else and that’s what we have to put the emphasis on.” Edwards on us: “Their defence is pretty stubborn, they don’t give much away. It was a pretty unique game, as sometimes it can be at Kenilworth Road. If we are able to go and score three goals at the Emirates, then we are doing pretty well! We will try and be the best version of us – that is difficult at the moment [with the injuries].

“It’s the biggest challenge I’ve ever had, aside from a real serious incident we had with our captain [Tom Lockyer’s cardiac arrest], it is the most difficult, challenging period I’ve ever faced. I’ve never known anything like it and we are coming up against the best teams in the world in this period.”

Will Bukayo Saka Start Tonight

Bukayo Saka came off in the 78th minute on Sunday but Arteta will gauge his fitness before deciding if he’s fit enough to start. That leaves Jurrien Timber as our only long-term injury concern, who is back in training as he continues to rehab following his ACL tear in August.

Luton’s injury crisis worsened against Spurs on Saturday, leaving Edwards sweating over the fitness of Tahith Chong, Reece Burke and Alfie Doughty. Hamstrings have proven problematic, with goal threats Elijah Adebayo and Chiedozie Ogbene both succumbing to them, as well as Sambi Lokonga, Dan Potts and Amari’i Bell. For More News

Arsenal vs Manchester City :Race for the Top position in Premiership

Arsenal vs Manchester City: Race for the Top position in Premiership

Arsenal is looking to win the league for the ninth time in a row for the first time since March 2004 as they clash with Mancity for the premiership top spot in today match. We have already defeated the defending champions twice this season, so completing the hat-trick would be a major boost to our hopes of winning the championship. In order to accomplish that, though, we would need to snap City’s 38-game winning streak on their home field across all competitions in addition to winning for the first time at Etihad Stadium since 2015.

We are honoring the Arsenal fans, both past and present, who will be rooting for us from the sidelines or from a distance ahead of the big match. A recent motion picture featuring musician and major Gooner Hak Baker depicts the A recent movie featuring musician and huge Arsenal supporter Hak Baker encapsulates the essence of what makes being an Arsenal fan so unique. Filmed in and around north London, the 33-year-old vocalist reflects on the memories, songs, and stories that accompany club support in this work.

Race for the Top position in Premiership

Even if we outperformed Pep Guardiola’s squad before to the international break, City is still in commanding shape going into this match. They are unbeaten in 13 games since a 1-0 setback at Aston Villa in December and have only lost one of their past 20 Premier League encounters.

They topped the newly formed table with six straight victories to begin the season, but after initially rallying from back-to-back defeats to Wolves and ourselves in the fall.

Mancity have been nearly imperious since their return, winning 15 of their 17 games across all competitions to lie one point behind us in third place. They have also advanced to the FA Cup semifinals and the final eight of the Champions League. Guardiola will think his team is ready to pull off an amazing double-treble.

Arteta: It’s a big game for both sides, no doubt about it, and if we go there and win, it will give us an enormous boost again, but They have been practically imperious since their return, winning 15 of their 17 games across all competitions to sit atop the standings. However, I still believe they have a very long way to go before they can secure victory.

Guardiola: This place is nice to be in. With two trophies and, following the events of the previous season, being in the running for the three major titles of the season, the season has been excellent.

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel May Start the game today

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel were forced to withdraw from the England and Brazil teams, respectively, due to injuries. It is unclear if they will be able to return to training on Saturday before Arteta makes a decision regarding either player.

Likewise, Gabriel Martinelli, who likewise the same goes for Gabriel Martinelli who also wasn’t available for his country due to the foot injury that caused him to sit out our most recent wins against Brentford and Porto, while Jurrien Timber continues to recover from his ACL injury picked up in August.

Multiples injuries for both Team as they clash

City player suffered too during the international break as Kyle Walker was forced off with a tight hamstring during England’s loss to Brazil last week, and John Stones lasted just nine minutes against Belgium on Tuesday with a groin problem, with Guardiola revealing both will be out of Sunday’s game. Staying in the contest will be of critical importance. In games against the top five this season City have had a habit of fading from half-time onwards, conceding six goals and scoring just once. Like our two previous meetings this season, our substitutes could have a big say late on.

Manchester City have scored in each of their last 57 home games in all competitions, their longest such scoring streak in club history.
